In my last post, I mentioned that I would summarize how my website and blog came about. This adventure I am on is moving me toward considering Affiliate Marketing with Wealthy Affiliate. I want to first catch you up to where I am in my training. It is important that I do because we need to be on the same page and at the same level in the training program with Wealthy Affiliate. In doing so, I then can share my training experience with you. It is important to the plan and the proposal I’d like to share with you. First things first.
Website and Blog Summary
You need to understand this part was being constructed prior to my blog. Prior to figuring out how and in what way was Affiliate Marketing going to affect my life. Now keep in mind in my last post I was unemployed (I’m still unemployed) and I have Affiliate Marketing on my radar. Also remember, I have no experience in the world of Affiliate Marketing.
Wealthy Affiliate (the company providing affiliate marketing training) looked and read great on paper compared to the other choices, they also appeared to be the most beginner friendly on paper. I felt after reading the information on their website I was convinced of one thing, Wealthy Affiliate would be the Affiliate Marketing program I would look closer at. What did I have to lose? According to Wealthy Affiliate absolutely nothing, “Try Wealthy Affiliate Free, No Risk, and No Credit Card Required.” So, that is exactly what I had decided to do, try Wealthy Affiliate.
Signed up Sept. 7th, 2018 (for free) and received a welcome email
Kyle, CEO & Co-founder of Wealthy Affiliate here!
It’s so wonderful to meet you and I look forward to working with you in the coming days and helping you create a successful online business (no experience necessary)!
You are receiving this email because you have joined Wealthy Affiliate as a Starter Member, which I think you are going to find to be a really awesome place.
We are going to be teaching you a few things in the early stages of your training at Wealthy Affiliate.
The Community is the Culture
I received login instructions that were simple enough and began to explore the website as a member. There is a great deal to explore, honestly speaking an overwhelming amount of information. Let’s just say I discovered pretty quickly how the training, and instructions were going to go with Wealthy Affiliate. It has a family, teacher and community feel to its structure. There is a community discussion platform that allows thousands of Wealthy Affiliates to interact, ask questions and share ideas with each other.
You have instructors who want to help you succeed. Tons of video training programs and a community of mentor-like people who will answer all my questions as well. I remember getting a sense of community (I felt somewhat secure), can’t really explain it. Let’s just say I know it is important for someone new to feel welcomed and I did. I also know how difficult it is coming in as an unemployed (that’s me) or retired person who has no experience to feel comfortable. Now that I’m feeling fairly safe, I was eager to get started toward becoming an Affiliate Marketer. As expected, I was instructed to go to the training area for new members the “Get Started” area. Once I got there, there were basically 2 sets of training programs I could begin with.
1) Online Entrepreneur Certification (OEC): A training program that consists of 5 phases with a series of lessons that would walk me through the process of creating and growing a business within any niche (a group of people looking for something), I learned what a niche was pretty fast, that’s what it means in the world of Affiliate Marketing. “Niche,” if you look it up in the dictionary it will confuse you.
2) Affiliate Bootcamp: The Affiliate Bootcamp training program consists of 7 Phases with a series of lessons that would walk me through the process of creating and establishing a business in a niche related to the promotion of Wealthy Affiliate. When I chose Wealthy Affiliate as the Affiliate Marketing training program to take a closer look at, I had no idea I could promote Wealthy Affiliate at the same time. How will I do it? At that time I had no idea, but after thinking it over I came to the conclusion that the Bootcamp training program was for me. I figure (the thought in my head) Wealthy Affiliate wanted me to succeed. This is great, I’ll be in training to become an Affiliate Marketer and Wealthy Affiliate could be the first product/service I will have the opportunity to promote. How will I do that? Let’s just add it to the goals list at this time.
Began with an introduction to Co-Founders of Wealthy Affiliate, Kyle and Carson, a great business plan and structure. Their expression of wanting to help others become successful Affiliate Marketers made me a believer (at least a believer in the possibility). The training in this section also covered an overview of special menu icons on the header of the program applications, resource menu tabs, and their functions.
Program Details tab. This is a place to get all the info on the Affiliate Program by Wealthy Affiliate. Which shows the commission structures affiliate links and more.
My Stats tab. Where you can get detailed information about stats and commissions/transactions.
Tasks tab. This is where all the interaction and communication (questions) that are taking place within WA in respect to referrals. A task to complete as they come in, interacting with referrals.
My Referrals tab. All referrals that have joined through the affiliate link, both Starter, and Premium.
Links & Tracking tab. Where all affiliate links, to create your own tracking links, and to add tracking for services like Google AdWords, BingAds.com and Facebook.com.
Messages tab. These are automated, follow-up messages that you can create for your referrals!
Banners tab. Self-explanatory, banners used on social media, on your website, or anywhere can add a banner promoting WA.
Commission structure: The Starter VS the Premium Members
As a Starter (free and me) membership there is a chance to earn commissions (sign me up). As a Premium (small monthly fee) membership you can also earn commissions and much more through Wealthy Affiliate.
One of Many Incentives
Las Vegas Super Affiliate Conference is a yearly Convention held by Wealthy Affiliate. You have to accomplish 300 Premium Referrals to get an invitation. The Co-founders Kyle, Carson and others create the all-paid private every year and the conference for the year 2019 will be in Las Vegas. It sounds pretty extravagant! Sounds like another opportunity to me. What do you think?
The Lesson Task for this Lesson 1
Exercises or tasks at the end of each lesson ask everyone participating in the training to perform them. Lesson 1 task asked that I share my Affiliate goals to the Community on the community discussion platform. Another task was I had to comment on other people’s goals who shared with the community on the community discussion board. I gave a brief summary of my plans to make it to the 2019 Las Vegas Conference and was just to do my very best at this stage in training. It was easy to share with the community, I felt welcomed. My goal is just to work hard to become the best Affiliate Marketer I could and pray that the journey will be just as rewarding. So let’s go!
My next post, I would like to share my plan and bring my proposal for you to the forefront. I thought I was going to be able to share them in this post, but it is important to catch you up with where I am in the Wealthy Affiliate training. This will allow us to move forward together, experiencing at the same time.
